In a bid to ensure a seamless event, Ministry of Youth and Sports authorities have intensified logistics and diplomatic outreach.
Deputy Minister for Sports, G. Andy Quamie, recently conducted an extensive tour of Allianz Field to assess the venue’s facilities firsthand.
“The tour offered valuable insight into the operational preparations and match-day experience expected for the international friendly,” Deputy Minister Quamie noted.
During his facility visit, Deputy Minister Quamie held crucial coordination meetings with Minnesota United’s Director of Marketing, Eddie Hagberg, and the Director of Events and Stadium Manager, Zach Litzelswope.
The discussions focused on stadium security, ticketing, and collaborative efforts aimed at ensuring a successful event for both teams and the thousands of supporters expected to attend.
Beyond stadium logistics, Minister Quamie has been actively engaging key Liberian diaspora organizations to rally their support.
He has held discussions with Kamaty Diahn, Executive Director of the Organization of Liberians in Minnesota (OLIM), and Meme Keita, President of the Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas (ULAA), urging them to mobilize Liberians across the Midwest for what is expected to be one of the largest gatherings of Liberians in the US this year.
Diaspora Talent Scouting for 2027 AFCON and 2028 Olympics
Beyond the 90 minutes on the pitch, Deputy Minister Quamie’s mission also includes a strategic focus on talent identification and recruitment among Liberian youths living abroad.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports plans to engage parents of athletes competing in football, basketball, and track and field, encouraging eligible overseas talents to consider representing Liberia in future international competitions.
This outreach forms part of the government’s broader efforts to expand Liberia’s national talent pool ahead of major upcoming global fixtures, including the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification campaign, the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, California and Scouting potential basketball prospects to bolster the national basketball teams.

Adding further intrigue to the occasion are Liberian footballers Phillip Tarnue and Darius Randall, who currently play for Minnesota United 2.
Their presence has sparked widespread discussion among supporters eager to see which jersey the duo will wear.
