In a formal statement, the club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO)  Pokah Roberts described Francis as a dedicated, disciplined, and hardworking professional whose commitment left an indelible mark on the squad.

“Jesse Francis was more than a striker; he was a teammate who inspired those around him with his work ethic, humility, and spirit. We are committed to honoring his legacy both on and off the field,” the CEO stated.

Francis joined Down Town FC in late 2025 and featured in several matches during the current 2025/2026 national league campaign.

His contributions on the pitch and his leadership within the dressing room earned him the respect of teammates and management alike.

Solomon Sesay, who netted the match-winner against Fassell FC the mast game Francis played before his death dedicated the performance to his fallen teammate.

“We will miss Jesse dearly. Every match we play, we carry his spirit with us. His dedication and love for the game will continue to inspire us to give our best,” Sesay said.

The club leadership emphasized that Down Town FC will continue to uphold the values Francis embodied discipline, teamwork, and perseverance as they battle to maintain their First Division status.

“Jesse’s memory will remain a guiding light for the team. We honor him by playing with the same passion and commitment he showed every day,” the CEO Pokah Roberts added.

Meanwhile, the Liberia Football Association (LFA) has joined Down Town FC and the family of the late Jesse Francis in mourning, observing a moment of silence at all league venues this week in honor of the fallen striker.

The gesture, carried out before kickoff across various match centers, reflects the football community’s solidarity and respect for Francis, whose untimely death has deeply impacted teammates, officials, and fans alike.

The LFA’s tribute underscores the unity within Liberian football, as clubs and supporters continue to remember and celebrate the life and contribution of the late Down Town FC striker.
