Monrovia – The Liberia Football Association (LFA) officially concluded an intensive, two-day beginner training course for aspiring Match Commissioners at the LFA Headquarters in Congo Town on Tuesday.

The foundational program, which commenced on Monday, was strategically designed to equip new participants with the essential skills required to uphold the integrity, security, and professional execution of domestic football competitions.
Throughout the two-day session, the aspiring match officials received comprehensive training in competition regulations, matchday management protocols, and strict reporting standards to ensure all domestic fixtures are executed smoothly and professionally.
Additionally, facilitators placed a strong emphasis on maintaining accuracy and integrity in official match documentation, alongside technical training on the FIFA Connect System—the centralized platform used globally for football administration.
Commitment to Professionalism
During the opening session, LFA Commissioner General and former LFA President, Cllr. Sombo Izetta Wesley, reminded the participants of the weight of their responsibilities, emphasizing the uncompromising importance of professionalism, the absolute integrity of the reporting process, and proficiency with digital management platforms.
Day one of the seminar extensively covered match commissioning regulations and sports integrity, alongside hands-on technical training on the FIFA Connect platform.
At the closing ceremony on Tuesday, LFA General Secretary Emmett Crayton congratulated the participants on their dedication and eagerness to elevate their understanding of football governance.
He also commended Cllr. Wesley and her team of facilitators for imparting their wealth of knowledge to the new batch of match officials, reaffirming the football house’s commitment to continuous capacity building.
“This training initiative aligns with the LFA’s ongoing commitment to professionalizing its pool of match officials and continuously raising the standards of competition management throughout Liberia,” Crayton noted during the closing session.
For her part, Cllr. Wesley thanked the LFA leadership for their consistent logistical and administrative support toward the professional development of match commissioners.
The participants, in turn, expressed gratitude to both the LFA leadership and the technical facilitators for providing a valuable opportunity to transition from football enthusiasts to official custodians of the game.
