Founded in 2017, Aachen Home Care Liberia says it is the country’s first organized home and community-based care organization, offering healthcare services that allow vulnerable individuals to remain in their homes while receiving professional support.
The organization was established to address a critical gap in Liberia’s healthcare system, where many patients often leave hospitals without access to continued medical support, rehabilitation, or long-term care services.
“Our goal is not simply to provide care, but to preserve dignity, strengthen families, and improve quality of life for those who need support most,” said Dr. Samuel B. Reeves Jr., Co-Founder and President of the organization.
Meeting a Growing Healthcare Need
Healthcare experts say Liberia is experiencing an increasing demand for long-term and home-based care services as the population ages and more people live with chronic medical conditions.
Traditionally, family members have served as primary caregivers for elderly relatives and individuals with disabilities. However, economic pressures, migration, employment demands, and changing family dynamics have made it increasingly difficult for many families to provide full-time care.
Aachen Home Care Liberia says its services are designed to complement family caregiving while promoting safety, dignity, and independence.
The organization serves senior citizens, patients recovering from illness or hospitalization, individuals living with chronic conditions, persons with disabilities, and families requiring caregiving support.
Services Designed for Home and Community Care
The organization provides a range of services aimed at helping individuals remain safely in their homes while maintaining their quality of life.
These services include professional nursing care, personal care assistance, companion and sitter services, medication reminders, assistance with activities of daily living, caregiver education, family support, and community health outreach programs.

Aachen Home Care Liberia says it recognizes the financial challenges many Liberian families face and seeks to provide flexible service options that can meet different needs and income levels.
Through partnerships, community engagement, and innovative service delivery models, the organization says it hopes to expand access to quality home care services across the country.
Looking to the Future
Beyond its current services, Aachen Home Care Liberia is pursuing ambitious plans aimed at strengthening Liberia’s healthcare system.
Through the WRAP Initiative and related programs, the organization hopes to expand healthcare access, caregiver support services, health education programs, and community wellness initiatives.
Among its long-term goals is the establishment of Liberia’s first dedicated long-term care facility to provide comprehensive support for senior citizens, individuals living with chronic illnesses, and vulnerable adults requiring ongoing care.
The organization is also seeking to establish a pediatric healthcare facility to provide specialized services for children and families.
Leaders of the organization say these initiatives are intended to create sustainable healthcare solutions that support Liberian families at every stage of life.
“We envision a future where Liberians can access compassionate, high-quality care at every stage of life — from childhood through the senior years — without having to leave their communities or their country to receive the support they deserve,” the organization said.
Aachen Home Care Liberia was co-founded by Lois Harris and Dr. Samuel B. Reeves Jr., who continue to lead the organization as it expands its services and pursues its long-term healthcare vision for Liberia.
