
Under the Regional Emergency Solar Power Intervention Project (RESPITE), a Capacity Building Training Workshop on “Solar PV System Planning, Execution & Lifecycle Management” was successfully conducted from 8th April to 11th April 2026, at the training Centre in Mount Coffee Hydro Power Plant, Liberia.
The training was organized under the World Bank funded RESPITE Project for the Energy Utility Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC). The training was implemented through a Joint Venture as the Project supervising venture Consultant team comprising COLENCO Consulting Ltd (Nigeria), ATI Consultores S.L (Spain), and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC-India).
The objective of the workshop was to strengthen technical and managerial capabilities of LEC personnel in the field of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, supporting Liberia’s transition towards sustainable and reliable renewable energy infrastructure.
A total of 19 executives from Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) attended the training workshop and actively participated throughout the program.
The training covered key technical areas including solar PV system planning, sizing, and design, solar PV construction, testing, and commissioning, project management and construction monitoring, and operation and maintenance procedures
The program was conducted by experts from COLENCO/NTPC Limited, who provided in-depth technical knowledge, practical insights, and global best practices in solar energy project implementation. COLENCO Consulting Ltd organized the training program as part of its project responsibilities under the RESPITE initiative.
19 executives from LEC actively engaged in the sessions, gaining valuable exposure to both theoretical concepts and practical applications. The interactive training sessions enabled knowledge sharing, problem-solving discussions, and hands-on understanding of solar PV project lifecycle management.
Officials from LEC appreciated the initiative and emphasized that such capacity building programs play a crucial role in strengthening operational efficiency and ensuring the long-term sustainability of Liberia’s power sector.
The workshop concluded successfully with feedback sessions and group discussions, followed by Training certificates, closing remarks and appreciation from all stakeholders involved.
This training was provided for the ongoing Solar Generation technical knowledge and its commercial output and to encourage further Addition and Implementation of Solar Generating Plant in Liberia.
