Monrovia –The former Acting Director General of the Liberia Agriculture Commodity Regulatory Authority(LACRA), Dan Torkemawon Saryee Sr., has written a formal communication to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, expressing his profound gratitude and deepest appreciation to the President for the trust, confidence, and privilege reposed in him (Mr.Saryee) to serve the Republic of Liberia as the Acting Director General of the Liberia Agriculture Commodity Regulatory Authority (LACRA) from June 2025 to June 2026.
In his official letter, a copy of which was obtained by FrontPage Africa, Mr. Saryee said steering the affairs of LACRA over the past year has been an exceptionally rewarding professional journey and a deeply fulfilling national duty.
‘‘During the tenure, my administration remained steadfastly committed to advancing our country’s agricultural sector. Through strategic collaboration and institutional dedication, we successfully initiated the
transition of LACRA from a single-commodity focused regulator into a diversified entity championing the structural regulation and development of our primary agricultural value chains, including cocoa, coffee, oil palm and rubber,’’ Mr. Saryee stated in his letter.
Furthermore, he said he is proud to highlight that through rigorous fiscal discipline, systemic reforms and robust stakeholder engagement, they achieved a historic milestone by driving institutional revenue upwards from approximately US$934,000 to over US$2.2 million.
‘‘We also formally launched Coffee Liberica as a celebrated national identity product, formulated the institutional Five-Year Strategic Plan (2025-2029) and aggressively pursued frameworks to align our exports with international standards such as the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). In addition, permit me to proudly say my leadership transitioned LACRA from a zero-donor support entity to a 10 donor-supported Authority as at the date of my tenure as Acting Director General,’’ he pointed out.
The former Acting Director General of LACRA noted that these initiatives were aimed entirely at creating long-term resilience, digital transparency and economic empowerment for our local farmers and civil society.
‘‘As I officially hand over the mantle of leadership back to Hon. Christopher Sankolo, Director General, on June 11, 2026, I reflect on this period of governance with immense pride in what we have collectively achieved for the sector. This milestone would not have been possible without the strategic guidance and unwavering institutional support extended by your administration,’’ he continued.
‘‘As I transition from this role, I wish to reconfirm and assure you of my unwavering commitment to the progress of our nation. My passion for public service, regulatory reform, and sustainable development remains absolute. I stand completely available and prepared to answer the call to serve my country whenever and wherever my expertise, leadership, and dedication are required in the future,’’ Mr. Saryee asserted.
