Monrovia – Forty-nine Liberian women are set to graduate this Saturday from a six-month vocational skills training program organized by the opposition Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE), marking a step in the party’s community-based empowerment initiative.

The beneficiaries, drawn from diverse social and economic backgrounds, successfully completed intensive training in tailoring and cosmetology under the Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr. Women Empowerment and Vocational Skills Training Program.
The initiative, offered free of charge, is aimed at equipping women and girls with practical, income-generating skills to help them achieve financial independence.
MOVEE says the program is grounded in its belief that sustainable national development must begin with empowering citizens, particularly women, with marketable skills. Party officials emphasize that the training is inclusive, providing opportunities regardless of social, political, religious, ethnic, or geographic affiliation.
The graduation ceremony will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the party’s National Headquarters in Paynesville City.
The 25th President of Liberia, George Manneh Weah, is expected to serve as Special Guest of Honor.
Weah, who is also Political Leader and Standard Bearer of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), will deliver special remarks and present Certificates of Achievement to the graduates.
The keynote address will be delivered by A. Patrick Sowah, former President of the University of Liberia Student Union (ULSU), who currently resides in Minnesota, United States.
Party leaders describe the program as more than a political initiative, calling it a practical intervention to reduce unemployment and promote self-reliance among women. According to organizers, the long-term vision is to expand the initiative to reach more communities across Liberia.
Earlier in the day, MOVEE will convene its first National Executive Committee (NEC) Meeting of 2026 at 9:00 a.m. at its headquarters in Paynesville City.
The meeting, held in line with Article 19 (2a) of the party’s 2024 Revised Constitution, will bring together chairpersons from the party’s fifteen county chapters and twenty-seven central NEC members.
It will be presided over by MOVEE’s Political Leader and Standard Bearer, Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr..
Discussions are expected to focus on organizational restructuring, operational strategies, membership dues compliance, and the party’s broader political direction for 2026.
