With the 2026 Elective Congress approaching, Roberts is positioning his candidacy around what he describes as a clear and actionable plan to strengthen football structures across Liberia.
Grassroots Football at the Core
Central to Roberts’ agenda is a renewed focus on grassroots football development, which he believes remains the foundation for long-term success.
He emphasized the need to empower community clubs, expand youth participation, and create structured pathways for young talents to transition into the professional ranks.
“Grassroots empowerment is where real development begins,” Roberts stated, noting that increased support for local clubs would help unlock talent across the country.
Strengthening Local Clubs
Roberts also highlighted plans to provide greater institutional and operational support to Liberian clubs, particularly those outside the top tier.
His vision includes improved access to resources, better organizational frameworks, and stronger collaboration between the LFA and club administrators.
He argues that sustainable club development will ultimately raise the overall competitiveness of Liberian football.
Another key pillar of his plan is infrastructure development. Roberts pointed to the need for improved playing facilities, training grounds, and community-based football centers.
He stressed that without adequate infrastructure, efforts to develop talent and grow the sport would remain limited.
Driving Technical Advancement
Roberts’ agenda also focuses on enhancing the technical side of the game. He is advocating for increased investment in coaching education, referee training, and modern football systems.
According to him, raising technical standards is critical to ensuring that Liberian football can compete more effectively on regional and international stages.
Aligning with Existing Vision
While presenting his plans, Roberts reaffirmed his alignment with the leadership of Mustapha I. Raji, stating that his goal is to support and help fully implement the LFA’s existing development blueprint.
“I am contesting to ensure that the President’s plan for football development is fully realized,” he said.
A Results-Oriented Approach
Drawing from his experience at Down Town FC, Roberts underscored a track record of building from the grassroots level to top-tier competition an approach he intends to replicate on a national scale.
He maintained that his candidacy is not just about occupying a position, but about delivering measurable progress in Liberian football.
Looking Ahead
If elected, he says his focus will remain on transforming football development into a sustainable system that benefits players, clubs, and communities alike.
“Our mission is to elevate the game at every level,” Roberts emphasized, “and ensure that football in Liberia reaches its full potential.”
