Monrovia– Montserrado County Electoral District #2 Representative, Sekou S. Kanneh, has fulfilled yet another promise to his constituents by presenting an international travel ticket to scholarship beneficiary, young Roland K. Vane.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony held at his Capitol Building office Tuesday, Rep. Kanneh expressed gratitude to partners and reiterated his commitment to expanding educational opportunities for young Liberians.
“I want to say thank you to Mr. Cyrus Vane, his son, and the African Passion team working along with my office. Today marks another important milestone as we fulfill the promises made to our district and the people of Liberia,” Rep. Kanneh stated.
He explained that the initiative stems from a previous visit to Asia, where he and his team engaged with international institutions to create opportunities for Liberian students.
“During our visit, we met with several universities and advocated for an open-door policy for young Liberians who are eager to further their education. Today, Roland becomes our second beneficiary. The first, Josephine Faith-Clinton, traveled earlier this year,” he added.
He emphasized that the program is not limited to District #2 but is open to all qualified Liberian students.
“This opportunity is for every Liberian student who meets the requirements of the partner universities. Once accepted, we are committed to providing travel support,” he said.
Roland K. Vane is expected to travel on May 18 via Addis Ababa en route to Mumbai, India, where he will pursue a Master’s degree in Microbiology at Sandip University.
Receiving the ticket, Mr. Vane expressed appreciation and optimism about his future. “I feel excited and grateful for this opportunity. This is not the end, but the beginning of a greater journey. I believe in planning my life and pursuing quality education that reflects in what I can deliver,” he said.
He further encouraged fellow Liberian youth to take advantage of opportunities when they arise. “If you don’t take hold of the opportunity you have, someone else will—and regret does not change anything,” he advised.
Mr. Vane hopes to specialize in microbiology with the long-term goal of becoming a gynecologist.
Also speaking at the event, Cyrus Vane, father of the beneficiary, expressed sincere appreciation to Hon. Kanneh for supporting his son’s educational advancement.
