Monrovia – Wellness Partners Medical Center has celebrated five years of delivering patient-centered healthcare in Liberia, unveiling new healthcare membership plans and preventive health screening packages aimed at reducing financial barriers and expanding access to quality medical services.
The fifth anniversary celebration, held last Thursday under the theme “A Journey of Impact. A Legacy in the Making,” brought together patients, physicians, nurses, healthcare professionals, development partners, corporate institutions, diplomats, and community leaders to reflect on the institution’s achievements and outline its vision for the future.
A major highlight of the event was the launch of the center’s healthcare membership program, an innovative health financing initiative designed to help individuals, families, employers, and Liberians in the diaspora better prepare for both routine and unexpected medical expenses.
According to the medical center, the program seeks to move healthcare financing away from reactive treatment and toward preventive care, financial preparedness, and continuous access to quality medical services.
The institution also introduced comprehensive preventive health screening packages intended to encourage early disease detection, timely diagnosis, and treatment. The initiative aims to reduce avoidable complications, improve patient outcomes, and lower out-of-pocket healthcare costs.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Nicole Cooper, Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director of Wellness Partners Medical Center, described the new initiatives as an important step toward strengthening Liberia’s healthcare system.
“These programs are about empowering people to plan ahead for their health—not simply paying for healthcare after they become sick,” Dr. Cooper said. “Healthcare should not begin in the emergency room.
