Monrovia – Mr. Abraham Darius Dillon is seeking answers as the passport division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs drags its feet over the processing of his passport renewal.
Mr. Dillon, who is contesting the upcoming Senatorial By-Elections for Montserrado County told FrontPageAfrica that despite paying for his passport processing which usually takes two days or less, authorities have been instituting bottlenecks which is threatening to interfere with an upcoming travel. “It is an open secret that since April of this year, I been publicly announcing a quick trip to the USA for few days by Mid-June.
Mr. Dillon says since his passport required renewal, he applied for same. “I paid for the “Expedited Service” and obtained an Official Receipt from the Foreign Ministry since May 20. “Expedited Service” means you get your Passport within few hours immediately after payment. It is interesting that the Govt is deliberately REFUSING to issue my Passport up to date, even after receiving and collecting my money.”
The Senatorial candidate said he has been at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs over four times to collect his passport to no avail. “No one can tell me anything as to why I am being Denied.”
Mr. Dillon says he has sought the help of Deputy Press Secretary Mr. Smith Toby who has tried to intervene, but nothing has materialized to date. “it seems he cannot help. Haha! When I tried reaching the Passport Director last Friday, I was told he was “at the President’s house to discuss some issues.” Today is nearly 9 days.”
Mr. Dillon told FrontPageAfrica Tuesday that he has been assured that he would get his passport after bring the issue up in a meeting held this week between members of the Council of Patriots and the government. “I have informed the Minister of Justice and the Director of Police in the presence of UN and ECOWAS. Police Director told me via phone that MoJ/Dean has called Passport Director and “directed” him to issue my Passport tomorrow (Wednesday).”
As this story went to press, Mr. Dillon had not received his passport.
