MONROVIA – Liberian forwards Mohammed Kesseley Kamara and Joseph Melto Quiah have enjoyed encouraging starts with their respective clubs after both found the back of the net this week.

Kamara scored his first goal for Romanian top-flight side Rapid București on Thursday, helping his club secure a 3-1 victory over Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kyiv in a pre-season encounter.
The Liberian attacker wrapped up the victory with an 89th-minute strike after teammates Omar El Sawy and Borisav Burmaz had given Rapid a comfortable advantage.
Dynamo Kyiv’s lone goal came through Vitaliy Buyalskyy, who converted a penalty in the 56th minute.
The goal is Kamara’s first since joining the Romanian outfit and provides an early boost to both the player and the club as preparations intensify for the upcoming Romanian league season.
Meanwhile, fellow Liberian forward Joseph Melto Quiah announced himself in style by scoring on his debut for American USL Championship side New Mexico United.
Quiah was on target as New Mexico United played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Atlanta United FC in a friendly match at Isotopes Park, marking his first appearance for the club with a well-taken goal. The young attacker recently joined New Mexico United after spending the 2025 season with Toronto FC II in MLS NEXT Pro.
Before turning professional, Quiah enjoyed a standout collegiate career at the University of Dayton, where he scored 14 goals and provided 16 assists in 47 appearances over three seasons.
His performances earned him a selection by Toronto FC in the third round of the 2025 MLS SuperDraft.
Speaking after the match, Quiah expressed delight at opening his account on his debut, describing the goal as a major confidence booster.
The Liberian forward noted that he hopes to build on the performance by carrying his goalscoring form into competitive matches and making a significant impact for New Mexico United during the current campaign.
The goals by Kamara and Quiah provide another positive sign for Liberian football, with both attackers making immediate impressions for their new clubs as they prepare for the challenges of the 2026 season.
