MONROVIA– Founder and Spiritual Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, pastor Primate Elijah Ayodele has drawn condemnation in Liberia after declaring President Joseph Nyuma Boakai “confused” and predicting chaos until 2029.

The prophecy, delivered in Lagos and widely circulated on social media, has triggered a wave of political and civic backlash in Monrovia, while some defenders insist his warnings are divine truth.
Ayodele warned that Liberia’s leadership and economy were adrift, predicting hardship and instability.
“Liberia, your president is confused. So, the economy of the country is confused. Everything about the country is confused. You are going to face a crisis. Liberia is going to be hot next year
If they don’t even plan a coup against you, sincerely, your government will be very tough. Hardship awaits Liberia. The government is not ready to change and this will cause hardship. It’s going to cause a crisis. The man is tired.
Days later, he reinforced his claim that the nation would suffer until Boakai leaves office.
“Your president is confused but you cannot understand. Your economy will begin to suffer… Your eyes will not open until the president leaves.
“Before the 2023 election, Ayodele had also warned: “If you put that opposition Boakai to be your president, oh, Liberia will sink. Calamity will befall Liberia.”
Supporters now cite current economic hardship as proof of his accuracy, while critics argue his words are partisan tools meant to destabilize governance.
Montserrado County Senator, Abraham Darius Dillon said Ayodele’s remarks were politically motivated and tied to his friendship with former President George Weah.
“From all the videos and photos, I have seen about that ‘Man of God,’ it is clear he loves former Pres. Weah. They are good friends and political partners! Clearly, the ‘Man of God’ does not love Pres. Boakai, so all his ‘prophecies’ are seen and delivered as such. “
Senator Amara Konneh urged Liberians to reject external interference, warning that Ayodele’s rhetoric was destabilizing.
“All well‑meaning Liberians should condemn this. This man needs to redirect his focus to his own country and the issues in Nigeria. “
Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation Managing Director, Mo Ali took to social media and accused Ayodele of inciting violence.
“A rogue and criminal parading as a pastor in Nigeria incites violence in Liberia and calls for the overthrow of a sitting president. “
Assistant Minister of Education, Amara Muhammad Kamara dismissed Ayodele as a fraud. “Confused 419 guy. A big scammer of the 1st Order.”
General Broadcasting System Director General Eugene Fahngon condemned Ayodele in stark terms.
You people are elevating a hardcore criminal in the name of religion. Even Weah knows he’s a scammer. Pastor Rogue is his name,” Fahngon said
Unity Party loyalist Alex Gborlee rejected Ayodele’s prophecy outright.
“He’d better concentrate on his failing country. Fake Prophet. Money for the gospel fake Prophet.”
Former Deputy Minister Isaac Doe defended Ayodele, citing past predictions he believes have come true.
“He prophesied that Liberia would experience fire outbreaks. He prophesied that life would become more difficult for the nation. Are Liberians facing harder times? Yes.”
Former Representative and Coalition for Democratic Change stalwart, Acarous Gray in a social media post, said Ayodele’s warnings had been fulfilled under Boakai’s administration.
“Today, this prophecy has come to pass. The country is hard — unprecedented economic hardship, high unemployment, parents can’t send their kids to school, people are dying in hospitals. “
Political Activist, Martin Kollie cautioned against mixing prophecy with politics.
“There is a difference between prophecy and politics. Liberia must reject external voices that degrade our leadership while ignoring their own crises.”
Civil Society Leader Glendy Jane Junius said Ayodele’s language was harmful and disrespectful.
“This kind of derogatory language is not only wrong; it is harmful and completely out of line. We must reject this kind of external interference, stand firm in respect for our President, and focus on our own path forward.
“Context and Reaction’
Ayodele’s prophecy is not his first intervention in Liberian politics. His earlier warnings during the 2023 election campaign are now being revisited by both critics and supporters.
Liberia’s history of civil conflict makes coup talk especially sensitive, and religious figures wield influence across West Africa.
